Special Olympics Pennsylvania has suspended all local and state sport training and competition activities and other activations involving our athletes (such as Athlete Leadership University, dances, or end of season parties) through March 31. Also, ALL other events (fundraising, volunteer recruitment activities, etc.) involving 20 or more participants are suspended until the end of March.

West Chester University has cancelled all external events on campus through the spring term due to the spread of coronavirus. This includes the Special Olympics PA 50th Anniversary Celebration event originally scheduled for April 29. We will endeavor to revise plans and determine if/how we can hold a celebratory event later this year, but we do not have those details at this time.

The spring invitational scheduled for April 4 at Widener has been cancelled.

Changing the Game

In ancient Rome, the gladiators went into the arena with these words on their lips: let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.

– Eunice Kennedy Shriver at the 1st Special Olympics (1968)
